Logrono to Najera
I had a fun night in Logrono jumping from bar to bar trying different tapas and wine and mixing wirh all the different people. But yesterday was very difficult and it tested me on several levels. First, I discovered that my rain jacket was not rain proof and it rained hard at times and the temperature was around 50 with cold water dropping down my back and no shelter for 10 mile stretches. My biggest problem was a shin splint that became more and more prevalent each step. I managed to distract myself by talking with several new faces and the last stretch I walked with a 20 something group that walked at twice my normal pace. I am now laid up in bed icing my leg. I went to dinner with some other new faces that gave my a stern lecture on giving up my goals and listening to my body. Fortunately I'm in a private room and have the luxury of resting a bit more before I decide what to do. Meanwhile this morning my Camino family (that I adopted from the start) has moved on. It's pouring rain right now so I'm in no hurry to leave the comfort of my private room. Two nights ago I was in a room with 30 other people, little space and must depart by 8 am, which has been a standard stay. Right now I'm contemplating going to a doctor, getting a massage or walking to the next village....I have 2 hours to decide.....Some of the highlights from yesterday's walk,1. the animals that visited me 2. good conversations 3.the vibrant green colors and delicious grapes and berries along the way.
