O Cebreiro

The climb today was really steep. It ended at the top of a mountain in a small picturesque village with a cobble stoned street and panoramic views. The pictures do not do it justice. I entered Galicia which is the final region of the Camino....7 days left. I walked 19 miles all uphill today. It was considered a race for a bed since there are only 3 places to stay and 100's of pilgrams. I walked quickly and left at dark but in the towns leading up to the top I couldn't resist stopping for refreshments and an opportunity to rest my feet. In the end it worked out fine as it always does. Another cool and crisp sunny day!

I did it! Too much going on for me to write about my last 24 hours. By the way, the sky is decieving in this photo...the only blue sky patch all day. It's been hard rain for three days.  I received my certificate for completing 779 km in 31 days! Carrying my own stuff and never catching a ride. Today I took a bus to Fisterre to complete the journey.

Finisterre

  In the Middle Ages many considered this point to be the "end of the earth" and it's had great significance through the ages. Getting to the lighthouse in Finisterre is considered the unofficial end of the Camino. I wish I could've walked there too but it would've been 4 more days and I don't have that much time left.     It was raining and extremely windy when I arrived by bus. I decided to go ahead and walk the 4 miles instead of taking a taxi because I actually felt strange not walking this morning. I spent some time admiring the breathtaking scenery (even in the rain) and then for a 30 minute window it stopped right as I got to the point. About 5 minutes after I started walking back it started to rain again.
