Villar de.Mazarife, Astorga, Foncebadon

I started walking again and my shin splint has almost healed. Every turn is an unexpected adventure. I deviated from my plan and went an alternative route to avoid the highway. I ended up in a small village with all new people. The next day I was walking in a very rural area when I happened upon a little paradise for breakfast. It was run by 2 Spanish sisters that made me homemade preserves from their garden. They kept coming out of their kitchen with more fresh food and  I didn't want to leave. I ended up walking 23 miles that day....that's the max my body can handle with my heavy pack. I made it to Astorga. I had my eye on the prize....it's a medźium sized town known for their chocolate, spas and Gaudi palace. I enjoyed all three! Long story but the opportunity to get in water is very slim around here, even when you stay at a place advertising a bathtub (there was NO PLUG). In Astorga I got a day pass to soak in water with jets, saunas, etc. It was perfect. The walk through this part of Spain is beautiful through lush mountains and you can really tell it's Fall now. My newest challenge is blisters on the bottoms of my feet that are very deep. Each step is a challenge but I have 10 days to go and I'm passing over the highest peaking on the Camilo today.  I spend a minimum of an hour nursing my feet each day.
This is me most stops :)

Bridge of 19 arches. Famous for knight duals!
