Malaysia

Getting to Malaysia took 30 hours but it was well worth it! Our stay in Kuala Lumpur was too quick but we managed to pack in a ton of amazing experiences! It's very clean, beautiful and tropical. We went on a dreamy firefly tour and ate dinner in a fishing village, visited a monkey sanctuary, did a night street food tour, walked through a city eco park through a lush forest, visited a Buddhist temple and a Hindu temple, and enjoyed our rooftop pool over looking the city. The people were very friendly. It would be nice to return and visit the jungle and beaches there but we took a 3 hour flight to Bali and we are exploring the south first.

Finisterre

  In the Middle Ages many considered this point to be the "end of the earth" and it's had great significance through the ages. Getting to the lighthouse in Finisterre is considered the unofficial end of the Camino. I wish I could've walked there too but it would've been 4 more days and I don't have that much time left.     It was raining and extremely windy when I arrived by bus. I decided to go ahead and walk the 4 miles instead of taking a taxi because I actually felt strange not walking this morning. I spent some time admiring the breathtaking scenery (even in the rain) and then for a 30 minute window it stopped right as I got to the point. About 5 minutes after I started walking back it started to rain again.

Last night big thunderstorms rolled in and I watched the lightning from my bed. When I awoke it was still down pouring so I decided to wait till check out (9:30 am) to leave. I got out all my rain gear and went for breakfast before I took off in the rain. It was cold but I walked quickly. I completed 10 miles without stop. The rain was off and on but much better than in the early morning. I ended up stopping for homemade pumpkin soup halfway and then continued on. The last stretch seemed like forever with both feet and shoulder pains but I ended up running into a Camino friend that started the same day as me and who I hadn't seen in 2 weeks. The final stretch we walked together. I enjoyed pizza with a friend and then planned my last day before reaching Santiago....more to come on that.... I don't like graffiti but I couldn't help but stop and laugh at this... I'd never thought of it but at the time I was definitely feeling it! ...

Triacastela

Today was a bit cold and overcast which made the colors look so vibrant. It's very green and lush in this mountain range. I took my time leaving this morning because I wanted to enjoy the sunrise from the top of the mountain. I walked without having my usual coffee and croissant to start the day. Most of the walk was downhill which was hard on my joints and toes but it was a shorter and easier walk than the past few days. I ended up stopping at a little albergue cafe that served me a variety of the local cheeses with honey and bread. Delicious and it had an all glass dining room that looked out over the mountains. I passed a chestnut tree that was 200 years old. I also walked behind a woman herding bulls. I arrived in my albergue very early and it was wonderful because it's such a lovely place.
